We have been notified there are multiple confirmed cases of Influenza A at all schools in the district. At this time, the Polk County Health Department has stated that any confirmed Influenza A cases are likely H1N1 influenza since it is too early in the year for the seasonal flu.
Information about the prevention, symptoms and treatment of seasonal flu and H1N1 is available at the link below.
The most important message:
If your child has flu-like symptoms, please keep him/her home for at least 24 hours after your child is fever free without the use of fever reducers (aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc.). Schools will continue to apply disinfectant solution to classroom desks and tabletops at least twice a day. Every effort is made to hold back the spread of germs at school.
Please contact your school nurse or family physician with any questions. You may also call the Polk County Health Department H1N1 phone line at 323-5330.
