In order to give our AP students the best opportunity to score well on their end-of-the-year AP tests, we have decided to locate another venue and move prom back to the original date of April 28. We have contacted the other venue and are currently holding that date. When final contractual agreements have been made, we will specify the location. We sincerely apologize for any and all confusion.
Thank you for your continued support working together as part of the Valley High School learning community. This January marks the registration process for student course requests next year. It is very important that parents and students make sound course request decisions for the following school year. Staffing and scheduling decisions are based on these requests providing the most opportunities for the students of VHS. Therefore, changes to these decisions will be extremely limited, protecting resources, class sizes and scheduling opportunities for all of our students.

Valley High School has hired Jay Fifield as the Tigers’ new head boys tennis coach. Fifield is a vice president/financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Des Moines. He played tennis for Ankeny High School and Marycrest College, has a wide array of experience coaching junior players and has been part of the Central Iowa tennis community for 36 years.
"We are excited to have Jay leading our program," said VHS Activities Director Brad Rose. "He is a long time member of the local tennis community and he will do a great job for us."
Fifield fills the vacancy created by the resignation of 13-year veteran Kirk Trow last June. Trow, who led the Tigers to the state team title in 2010, resigned last summer in order to take over as men's and women's tennis coach at Grand View College.
Students who park on the side streets are reminded to take note when police parking bans take effect after a snowfall, as the city will issue tickets or tow away the vehicles . REMINDER: No parking is allowed in Valley lots without a sticker.
